“Core” program on target with new certifications
10/13/2012 – ParexGroup introduced a new Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development strategy, the “Core” program, in 2011. The program aims to align all ParexGroup subsidiaries with the company’s seven sustainable development commitments and to track specific indicators like eco-design, energy consumption, water consumption, waste management, safety, community outreach, and certifications.
In 2012 ParexGroup subsidiaries made substantial progress toward the certification target. As of December 2012, 67% of sites companywide had obtained ISO 9001 certification for quality management, while 56% had obtained OHSAS 18001 certification for occupational health and safety management.
All countries worked together to achieve the “Core” goals throughout 2012. A team of eight local sponsors gathered site evaluations and reported back to the team of three corporate sponsors who consolidated the information company-wide. This enable them to check progress and set relevant, targeted objectives for 2013.
In addition to boosting the number of ISO- and OHSAS-certified sits, the “Core” program has raised employee awareness of Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development issues across ParexGroup subsidiaries. The next steps will be to give the “Core” program even more exposure by ramping up internal communication efforts and set up systems to share experiences and best practices company-wide.
